There are so many places for you to visit, all just within a short distance from the inn.
Here are just a few:
- Chesapeake Farms–Waterfowl, eagles, ospreys, shorebirds and songbirds. Watch these birds from the comfort of your vehicle.
- Millington Wildlife Management Area–4,000 acres of trails await you near the Delaware border. You’ll see forest-dwelling birds such as tanagers, ovenbird, wood thrush, and worm-eating warblers. along the brushy edges, you’ll find blue grosbeak, brown thrasher,orchard oriole and yellow-breasted chat .
- Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge—This is a major feeding and roosting area for migratory and wintering waterfowl. You’ll see thousands of Tundra swans from mid-November to late February. Also some great hiking trails and observation platform.
- Sassafras Natural Resource Management Area–Adjacent to Turner’s Creek County Park, you’ll find open, wooded and river bluff habitat. Nesting birds include the Bald Eagle, Bank Swallow, Great Blue Heron, and the Yellow Warbler.
