While not as old as everyone first thinks, our 18th century-style manor has definitely observed a lot throughout its years. In fact, we field questions all the time about whether the house is haunted or even if we ever feel like we’re living a live-action version of “The Shining” (That answer for me? Yes, especially in the winter when I get snowed in at work and we lose power. That’s a writer for you, over-active imaginations). It’s questions like those coupled with our own personal experiences that made us think that we are in the perfect location to host a murder mystery event. How could we not?
Actually, some of you may have read in our newsletters that we did host one private murder mystery event back in early February. Their event was a 1920s inspired murder with mobsters at a casino. Even though their storyline was from a kit they found online, the group really put their all into the event, emerging from their rooms and down the spiral staircase in costumes and in-character. After that experience (and how we all couldn’t shut up about it), we knew we wanted to do something open for everyone.
Since then, we managed to find a group of murder mystery writers who are creating a customized story arc specifically for Great Oak Manor.
The actual murder is slated to occur on:
Date to be Announced (the victim got a reprieve!)
Watch for the next murder date coming soon!
Titled, “With This Ring…Somebody’s Dead!,” the event promises to be a killer.
When guests arrive on our rescheduled date to be announced, we will host a welcome reception to help introduce everyone to each other as the next day, you will all participate in our interactive murder mystery event and dinner. All of our usual bed and breakfast activities and amenities will be available for the weekend.
